3D Grid Twin and Scenario Analysis
A queryable, simulatable copy of your distribution grid: poles, transformers and conductors appear in 3D on real terrain; inventory, maintenance and measurement data come together on a single asset card; health scores, outage impact, load flow and investment scenarios run on the same platform.
GeoEner Digital Twin is a queryable, simulatable copy of the electricity distribution grid. It does not build a new data model from scratch: it combines GeoEner's network inventory, maintenance and work order history, GIS topology and measurement data on a single asset card through source adapters.
In the 3D World View, poles, transformers and conductors are shown in three dimensions on the organization's own terrain data, right in the browser. Pole models are selected automatically from the height and type labels in the inventory; sub-inventory such as luminaires, disconnectors, pole-mounted transformers and sectionalizers are attached to the pole as add-on parts. Overhead conductors hang from the poles' attachment points, and underground cables are drawn at their real burial depth, visible when the ground is made transparent. Preliminary project, as-built and site handover drawings also open in 3D. A selected area can be exported as a KMZ file that opens in Google Earth Pro, together with the models, orthophotos and drone photos.
On the analytics side, a health score is calculated from maintenance history; the map is colored by health band, and risky assets missing from the maintenance plan are listed separately. Outage impact analysis finds affected assets by tracing the topology. In the scenario screen, renewing critical assets is costed with unit prices, while load flow calculates transformer loading, voltage and losses. Switch Placement Optimization ranks the switching points that would most reduce customer-hour losses, and the Grid Master Plan derives bottlenecks and project proposals from load projections.

Module by module.
A scene of 300 m to 2 km opens around a feeder or asset. Terrain comes from the organization's own elevation data, with satellite, hybrid, terrain and optional Google 3D basemaps. Poles, transformers and LV/MV lines toggle on separate layers.
Overhead conductors are drawn individually by conductor count and hung from the pole model's attachment points. Underground cables are shown at a burial depth of 0.8 m for LV and 1.2 m for MV, and become visible as ground opacity is reduced.
A 109-model library for poles, transformer buildings and add-on parts. The right model is selected from inventory height and type labels, including spellings that vary between organizations. New COLLADA models can be uploaded, validated on the server and converted for the 3D view.
A selected feeder, asset surroundings or an entire district is exported as KMZ. Models are placed by position, orientation and terrain; orthophotos, drone orthophotos and drone photos with their camera direction can be added. Each object's balloon links back to GeoEner.
Preliminary project, as-built and site handover drawings open in 3D. Elements are colored by status, and dismantled and existing elements can be shown or hidden separately.
The unified asset card shows static data, maintenance history, an event timeline and the health trend together. The health score is calculated from maintenance history; risky assets missing from the maintenance plan are separated by organization, province and district, and feeder rankings export to Excel.
Renewing critical assets is costed with unit prices and budget usage is tracked. Load flow calculates transformer loading, voltage and losses, and sets aside feeders with insufficient data, with the reason. Outage impact analysis finds affected assets through the topology.
Switch Placement Optimization ranks the points that would most reduce customer-hour and energy-not-supplied losses and simulates before/after. The Grid Master Plan produces load projections, bottleneck detection and project proposals from population and demand data, and the outputs become investment requests.
Network inventory, maintenance history, GIS topology and measurement data are combined on a single asset card through source adapters.
A feeder or asset surroundings open in 3D on real terrain, with models selected automatically from inventory.
The health score is calculated from maintenance history, and risky, unplanned assets stand out on the map and in the risk summary.
Renewal, load flow and switch placement scenarios are compared by cost and impact.
The scene is exported to Google Earth Pro, and switch placement and master plan outputs become investment requests.
Evaluate renewal, switch placement and master plan decisions on the same twin, together with cost and impact.
See the pole, the line and their surroundings in 3D before going on site, and reach maintenance history and the health score on the asset card.
Check preliminary and handover drawings in 3D and share the scene with stakeholders as KMZ.
Capabilities in development.
Showing the number of affected customers directly in outage impact analysis.
Feeding the measurement data already shown on the asset card into the health score.
No; GeoEner Digital Twin does not build a new data model from scratch and uses existing GeoEner data. Network inventory, maintenance and work order history, GIS topology and GeoEner PSM measurements are combined on a single asset card through source adapters. Terrain comes from the organization's own elevation data (Copernicus GLO-30, PostGIS raster), so no paid terrain service is required, and orthophotos can be uploaded as GeoTIFF.
The health score is currently calculated from the asset's maintenance history. The map is colored by health band, risky assets missing from the maintenance plan are listed separately by organization, province and district, and feeder rankings export to Excel. Feeding the measurement data already shown on the asset card into the health score is planned on the roadmap.
Load flow uses a pandapower-based service to calculate transformer loading, voltage and losses, and sets aside feeders with insufficient data, with the reason. Switch Placement Optimization ranks the points that would most reduce customer-hour and energy-not-supplied losses and simulates before/after. In the scenario screen, renewing critical assets is costed with unit prices, and switch placement and Grid Master Plan outputs become investment requests.
No; GeoEner Digital Twin runs directly in the browser with CesiumJS and needs no extra software. Standard, satellite, hybrid and terrain basemaps are available, and the Google Photorealistic 3D basemap is optional. The product is a GeoEner module switched on per installation, with per-screen role permissions, and its KMZ exports open in Google Earth Pro.
All products run on the same map, the same authorization model and the same asset records.
